Mental Health Skills Building

Mental Health skills-building services is goal directed training to enable individuals to achieve and maintain community stability and independence in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment.

Program Goals:

  • To promote functional skills and appropriate behaviors in the community.

  • To teach activities of daily living.

  • To assist consumers in accessing community resources.

  • To develop / enhance independent living skills.

  • To monitor medication management.

Eligibility:

  • Individuals diagnosed with qualifying mental health disorders.

  • Residents of Dickenson County

  • Individuals who have experienced at least one inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.

  • Individual who require individualized training in acquiring basic living skills.

What we provide:

  • Assistance with budgeting skills.

  • Provides socialization and a link to the community. 

  • Assistance with transportation needs.

  • Teaching daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc.

Coordination with DCBHS case management services.       

How Do I Get Involved:
